Using technology previously reserved for photographing light traveling through a Coke bottle, researchers at M.I.T. have announced the new Selfie Cam, which will take one trillion selfies per second and automatically upload them to Facebook.
According to M.I.T Professor Ramesh Raskar, “It is important to preserve every femtosecond of our existence. After all, once that femtosecond is gone we will never get it back.” Calculations at M.I.T., indicate that in just 12 seconds, the Selfie Cam will consume Facebook’s entire data storage capacity, requiring a new data center every three seconds. At press time, Facebook was reportedly developing plans to attach 1 trillion adds per second to the new self portraits.
For more information on this exciting technique, see Ramesh Raskar: Imaging at a trillion frames per second or Trillion-frame-per-second video.
Wow! Technology continues to boggle my mind. I still have a stupid phone so these articles are way beyond my comprehension. However, it is an Interesting read. Thanks for the info.
