A recent article by Brad Jefferson, CEO and Co-founder of Animoto, on Monetizing Photos and Video Clips in the New World of Bits highlights the five ways to make money with digital photos:
1. Tangible Goods
Sell actual products, like photo books, that people value.
2. Digital Derivatives
Create digital products, like slide shows, that people value.
3. Peace of Mind
Preserve digital files that people value.
Promote other products and services on a site that people value.
Create a company that others value.
The key is to create something of value. Providing providing a product or service without adding value accomplishes nothing.
